About the author
Based in Brooklyn, New York, New York Times bestselling author Charles Soule is a writer of novels (graphic and otherwise), comics, screenplays and stories of all types. He plays the guitar fairly well and speaks at least one language.
Born in the Midwest, he spent his early years in Michigan before moving to Asia, where he spent time living in Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore. Stints on the East Coast followed, before settling in New York (apparently) for the long haul.
He is the author of the novels ANYONE and THE ORACLE YEAR, published by HarperCollins' Harper Perennial imprint, as well as LIGHT OF THE JEDI, launch title for STAR WARS:THE HIGH REPUBLIC. In addition to novels, he is a prolific writer of comics, including many titles for Marvel, DC, Image and other comics publishers, such as Undiscovered Country, Death of Wolverine, She-Hulk, Darth Vader, Lando, Curse Words, Letter 44 and long runs on Daredevil, Swamp Thing and Inhuman. - Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2024This looks like a very intriguing series! The start is a bit widespread, as the characters are introduced, so the reader doesn’t have that much time to really get stuck into the ‘new world’ of the United States, but there’s enough to this first volume to capture attention and interest! The story seems to be something that appeal to me, and I like the artwork with its clarity and boldness of color. I look forward to reading more in this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2024First issues need to hit the ground running and not stop for lunch. This book only gives you seconds to breath before the fun starts. Looking forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2019I got this comic last night and loved it. It's a interesting scenario so far. My only beef with the comic were the mutated creatures that people ride but other than that I like the premise. At the end of the comic you get some background on why the United States went into complete isolation. In the late 2020's, People's Republic of China called in the debt that the United States of America owed it. The worldwide economy crashed when the U.S. couldn't pay it back. A year and a half later, the entire power grid of the U.S. went out for more than three weeks. Two months after the power grid went out, the U.S. government began development of a program code named "Project Aurora" . That's all the back story we get so far.
The series reminds me a lot of mad max. Again this is just the first issue so it's understandable for people to be taken a back by it. I highly recommend this comic to anyone. And anything that Image Comics prints is usually a excellent story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021I like that there is a big mystery of what happening to greatest nation in the world, and how deep does the rabbit hole go? I like the dystopian Mad Max aesthetic, I feel like the US would definitely look like that. The artwork is pretty well done, detailed when he needs to be. Recommend for fans of Mad Max, The Walking Dead, Lost.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2024I'm hooked by the world, characters, and the WhatIf. Great character development and introduction of the future plot lines. Sam wants you!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2020Okay, Charles and Scott have got me interested! I like the premise of the series. First issue was free and it did its job: get me hooked so I would move on to the next. A Netflix worthy plot for sure.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2021#1 had a really promising beginning, but apparently there's no other books after this one🙄. As with most of their books. To bad, just as their other books no further, just leave you out there. Don't bother starting. I've been waiting years on other stories.
Soooo WRONG!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2020UC is the first graphic comic book I've read since childhood. I tried it on a whim during the quarantine and found it quick paced and engaging. The premise is fantastic, the dialogue clear but leaving something to imagination. The artwork is vibrant.

Premessa interessante, disegni belli ma storia totalmente assurda è inverosimile... interrotto a 3/4 della lettura, mi sembrava totalmente senza senso e ho perso totalmente interesse (già da metà avevo capito l’andaZzo).
